YOU  CAN  TRUST  THE  BIBLE.

The Christian church would be just another earthly organization if it was only based on human ideas.  What makes the Christian religion so unique and powerful is that it is built on the words of God.  That word of God is the Bible.  We in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod believe that the Bible is God’s word - not man’s word.  We believe that it is perfect, holy, without error, and the only source of absolute truth.  Everything else is tainted with human error and weakness.  If you really want to know the truth wouldn’t you want to hear it from the creator Himself.   We believe in verbal inspiration.  That means that the writers spoke in their own style, but every word is what God wanted in the Bible.

There are many proofs that the Bible is what it claims to be – God’s Word.  There is medical, historical, scientific, archeological evidence that demonstrate that it is His word and that it is true.  Just recently the secular science world has discovered that the world is too complicated to have evolved and have come up with the “Intelligent Design” concept.  There are medical procedures that deal with germs and bacteria in Moses’ day when doctors did not discover this until the turn of the last century.  Archeological digs have turned up civilizations, previously though to be made up in the Bible, to be real.  Over and over the evidence is clear that the Bible is just what it says it is.

The Bible could not be a hoax.  Evidence clearly shows that the Bible was written over a 2,200 year period.  There is no way that generation after generation could carry on this elaborate a deception.  It would have to break down after a while.  Or at least there would be glaring inconsistencies, which there are not.  Just spend some time looking into the Old Testament and then see how perfectly Jesus fulfilled each of the prophecies.   In Psalm 22, written 500 years before Christ’s death, you see that the writer knew exactly how Jesus would die.  That is because prophecy is God in timelessness telling us what would happen in time.  Event after event in the Old Testament is a foreshadowing of Jesus and His life. The Bible leaves you with only two choices: throw out the whole thing and rely on human resources for salvation, or trust scripture and God’s word for salvation. Any commingling just destroys the pure message from God.

Anyone who has seriously and honestly studied the Bible to see if it is true and trustworthy has found it to withstand the harshest scrutiny possible.  It is comforting to know that God, in His love for us, gave us such a reliable source through which we can know Him in all His glory and mercy.  If you open your heart to His Spirit and read this perfect Word, you will  see His truth that leads to eternal life.
